The purpose of the requirement is to enable NRW to carry out conservation mowing on various peatlands sites including transition mire or quaking bogs which demands very low ground pressure machinery.
A key site will be Crymlyn Bog SAC (East Swansea) where the PistenBulley machine will play a key role in the restoration works - the control of a dominant plant species: Purple moor grass (Molinea caerulea) along with some sedge and other biomass.
