two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Aberdeen City Council would like to obtain insight into the current market situation, trends, as well as future developments relating to the operation of a bike hire scheme in Aberdeen.
There is currently no bike hire scheme in operation in Aberdeen though a scheme was in place from autumn 2022 to spring 2024. Since the end of the scheme however, there has been a number of enquiries from members of the public as to its reinstatement, which demonstrates an appetite for such scheme in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen City Council have issued this request for information to support shaping the requirements for a future scheme.
Considerations are for either:
A homogeneous electric bike hire scheme; or
A heterogeneous mix of electric bikes and standard bikes hire scheme.
In any case, the interest is to develop a scheme that has the capacity to grow in line with demand, have both web based and user-friendly mobile application booking systems as well as provision for concessionary fares for less economically advantaged groups.
We would like suppliers to complete our Request for Information form, please find this attached.
