Business Services Organisation (BSO) Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS), on behalf of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Western Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and Southern Health and Social Care Trust wish to seek engagement with the marketplace to ascertain the market’s capabilities for the Supply and Delivery of Catering Disposables, Catering Cutlery, Ready Meal Containers and Sealing Film.
The Northern Ireland Executive in its New Decade, New Approach deal made a commitment to create a plan to eliminate plastic pollution and to support the Green Growth Strategy. In addition, it is expected that Northern Ireland will transpose a limited number of Articles of the EU Single Use Plastic Directive from early 2022. Therefore, in preparation of this, Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland wish to investigate the market’s capabilities to support the transition from Single Use Plastic for the below items:
• Catering Disposables
• Cutlery
• Ready Meal Containers
• Sealing Film
To this end, an open invitation is being extended to all interested parties to declare their interest in participating in a product awareness session.
Deadline for Declaration of Interest closes at 13.00 hrs Friday 16th April 2021.
two.2.14) Additional information
Product Awareness Session is scheduled to take place via Video Conference 28th and/or 29th April 2021. It is likely the Trusts will only be able to facilitate two full days of supplier engagement sessions, therefore places will be limited and it may not be possible to accommodate all interested suppliers. Sessions will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please note product samples will be required free of charge (Belfast delivery location will be confirmed on W/C 19th April 2021).

Product Awareness Session will be an opportunity for relevant suppliers to present to a panel of potential users. The presentation will be scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes per presenting organisation and will be required to : 1) Provide samples free of charge of their products (Belfast delivery location will be confirmed on W/C 19th April 2021), 2) To provide a presentation of their products to attendees to include supply chain details and sustainability, 3)To be available to respond to questions or clarifications from attendees following presentation. The overall purpose of the session will be to update, educate and inform attendees of what is currently available in the marketplace, which could form part of the future Tender specification. Your participation in any future Tender is in no way connected to or dependent upon your attendance at this Product Awareness Session. Product Awareness Session is scheduled to take place via Video Conference given current COVID-19 situation, on Wednesday 28th April 2021 or Thursday 29th April 2021. Specific appointment times will be communicated to each supplier following the closing date of this Declaration of Interest. To be able to attend the Product Awareness Session, companies must 1) Request a copy of Declaration of Interest proforma from Boucher.sourcing@hscni.net, 2) Complete the Declaration of Interest form, 3) Submit your completed Declaration of Interest form by emailing Boucher.sourcing@hscni.net before the deadline at 13.00 hrs Friday 16th April 2021, 4) Ensure that you will be available to attend on Wednesday 28th April 2021 or Thursday 29th April 2021, 5) Be able to supply product samples free of charge (Belfast Delivery location will be confirmed on W/C 19th April 2021). It should be noted that samples will be required to be delivered prior to engagement sessions.
