two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The aim of this purchase is to establish an X-ray powder diffraction facility to support materials research in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Geosciences, Biological Sciences and Engineering. The instrument will have a high energy X-ray source (e.g. a hard radiation source such as Ag or Mo) with a fast X-ray detector and a goniometer capable of housing many different reaction cells to include a high temperature furnace (300-2500K), cryostat (300-10K), humidity cell (260-420K), electrochemical testing cell and slurry flow cell. This modular diffractometer will allow different types of samples, e.g. powders and thin films to be measured.
