The Council is seeking to appoint a single Contractor for the provision of Traffic Management systems to the Derbyshire region and borders onto Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester.
The highway network in Derbyshire is substantial with over 5,102 km of roads.
In the absence of specific duties and powers, the Council has a general duty of care to network users and the community to maintain the highway in a condition fit for its purpose. This principle is applied to all decisions affecting policy, priority, programming, and implementation of highway maintenance works.
