The London Borough of Waltham Forest, commissions education providers to deliver alternative educational and vocational programmes to young people who are not succeeding on a more traditional academic curriculum, who are at risk of failing in mainstream schools and those who wish to follow a vocational pathway. This is a key part of keeping the young people of Waltham Forest in learning and making a positive contribution to society. The alternative educational programmes provide accredited qualifications to those young people who may struggle to achieve in a more conventional settings.

Description of renewals

The Contract is for a period of one (1) year commencing on 1 September 2023 (the “Commencement Date”) and subject to any earlier lawful termination, expiring on 31 August 2024 (the “Contract Period”). The Services shall run for three (3) academic years of the Contract. During the annual cycle, each term will be subject to a review in advance of the Services. The course end dates for Year 11 will be 25 June. The course end dates for Year 10 will be no earlier than 16 July.

The Authority may, by notice in writing, extend the Contract Period for a further three (3) periods of up to twelve (12) Months each period, provided that the said notices shall have been given to the Service Provider no later than twelve (12) weeks before the expiry of the initial Contract Period or extension expiry date.
