The Biological Services Unit of Queen’s University Belfast houses requires a replacement of its existing Air handling units (blowers and exhausts) for Individually Ventilated Cages (IVCs) for housing laboratory animals. The air handling equipment is vital to the health and welfare of experimental animals as well as the health and safety of personnel working in the Biological Services Unit. The IVC racks provide fresh, clean air to laboratory animals and vent away harmful waste gases (ammonia and CO2 etc.), whilst maintaining reducing spread of infectious agents and allergenic contaminants through HEPA filters. The BSU seeks replacements for its existing air handling units, either through continuing to use its existing IVC racks or by the provision of an alternative IVC system with air handling.
