two.2.4) Description of the procurement
AHDB is highly valued by the cereals industry for its independent work on monitoring agrochemical residues and contaminants since the mid-1980s, with the latest phase running from 2016 and concluding in Summer 2025. Food security and safety remains a priority issue for UK agriculture. There is need for continued investment in this work, as ensuring the safety and quality of the major UK cereals for human consumption and animal feed remains a top priority for the agricultural industry. This activity fits within the Independent, practical research and market intelligence pillar of the AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds sector plan (2022–2027).
Continued monitoring of contaminants in cereals across the supply chain is essential in order to provide scientific evidence and assure the cereal industry their products are safe, and of good quality, for use in the domestic and export markets. The data generated by previous phases of the project has been used to inform discussion on new legislation and and growing demands on supply, as well as be a vital source to demonstrate due diligence. AHDB is looking for a contractor to undertake these services.
These services are seasonal as related to harvest and dependent on Trade partners receiving samples and sending them to the contractor timeously; this is imperative to align with the ongoing project and deliverables to industry.
