Description

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) intend to set up a Orthorectification Services Framework. The purpose of Orthorectification Services is to validate the forest species and yield class for the Welsh Government Woodland Estate (WGWE). This work involves analysing aerial photographs and satellite imagery and follow up field survey to gather accurate data on species composition, yield class, management history, boundary accuracy, and related attributes and updating the Forester Web sub compartment database.

These GIS and Field surveys provide an accurate annual valuation of the WGWE. The preferred timing for this work is in advance of the preparation of forest resource plans (10-year forest management plans) and during the spring summer and autumn seasons. There are currently 69 forest Resource Plans covering approx. 120K ha on the WGWE and orthorectification has been carried out to date on a 5-year rolling programme.

Natural Resources Wales is undertaking a preliminary market engagement exercise to inform the potential future supply of Orthorectification Services through a Pre Market Engagement Questionnaire. The purpose of the engagement is to gather market insight, help shape our approach and ensure that suppliers are aware of the upcoming opportunity.

Participation is optional and does not form part of any formal evaluation, nor will it affect a supplier's ability to participate in the future procurement. Instructions on how to access the pre market engagement questionnaire can be found in the engagement section of this notice.
