EMR require a logistically managed waste collection and disposal services for its station, offices and depot locations.

The full estate is made of over 100 stations (Many being smaller outstations), offices and depot locations. With approximately 35 sites being served with routine waste collections.

Stations regions are divided across county boundaries, with Sheffield, Nottingham, Lincoln and Derby being the hub stations for their respective regions. These hub stations require multiple collections per week with city centre and operational environments.

Depots at Nottingham and Derby are responsible for the majority of EMR train maintenance and engineering activity. These sites generate a mix of both on-train general and dry mixed recycling waste, as well as hazardous wastes from the engineering and industrial nature of the sites.

Offices in Derby are closely located, with our Occupational Health office having a requirement for clinical waste collections in addition to general and dry mixed recycling.

EMR seeks continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of its waste collections services, in line with its environmental and sustainability targets, and expects its contractors to work in partnership with EMR to achieve those objectives.
