two.1.4) Short description

For avoidance of doubt this is not a call for competition at this stage, the purpose is to advise the market of the forthcoming procurement of London Borough of Tower Hamlets Weed Control contract and to invite potential suppliers to a virtual event to discuss a new exciting opportunity to undertake works within the Public Realm.

Weed Control - Highways And Other Areas Contract is required to meets the Council's requirement in order to safely carry out the control of weeds using approved herbicides.

The successful Contractor will be required to provide the services to maintain a weed free environment across Highway and Other Areas within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

This contract predominately involves the performance of works on the public highway. The Contractor must comply with all Road Traffic Regulations. In particular Chapter 8 of the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual summarized in the HMSO publication ‘Safer Road Works Ahead’ and all other current legislation relating to works which affect the Highway.

The Contractor must also comply with all relevant sections of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 where the works will affect the Highway.

This contract is designed deliver the highest quality service available in line with , British and European Standards, sound and accepted best practice implicit in the Specifications and public/user health and safety.

The event will be held on 9th April 2021 - Organisations wishing to attend the event are requested to register interest by emailing Matthew.Twohig@towerhamlets.gov.uk or via the portal by no later that 12 Noon on 6th April 2021.
