On 19 October 2016, the Secretary of State (SoS) announced improved guidance for moderation and that mandatory training would be provided for all local authority (LA) moderators. STA will undertake national LA moderator training for KS1 and KS2 English writing in order to deliver SoS’s continued commitment. National training and standardisation will help ensure the teacher assessment (TA) frameworks are applied accurately and consistently across the country, contributing to the provision of a robust and reliable national data set.
DFE, STA is seeking to appoint one specialist company to carry out creation of a repository of self guided training material to enable standardisation of moderators.
The Requirement
• To gather moderated pupil scripts for use in the designing of activities and professional discussions and these must be from when the current frameworks were introduced.
• To produce activities and examples of professional discussions. These need to be done through a variety of delivery routes – including video.
• To produce yearly standardisation exercises for potential moderators to be assessed.
