two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The City and County of Swansea has published this Prior Information Notice (‘PIN’) to try and identify potentially interested organisations that have expertise and experience in sorting/treating and recycling mixed paper/card collected by the Authority as part of its recycling initiatives.
The Authority collects mixed paper/card presented for collection in single use plastic bags at the kerbside. Large items of cardboard are collected loose along with the bags, though we do advise residents to bag cardboard wherever possible. The current tonnage collected is approximately 10,000 tonnes per year.
The collected material is currently taken to our MRF where the material is debagged and sorted to remove as much cardboard as practical for recycling separately, and non-target material. Mixed papers/card and separated Cardboard are then sent off to be recycled.
We would interested in hearing from you if you are able to offer options to:-
- To take the collected bagged material to be sorted/recycled.
- To take the MRF sorted mixed paper/card to be recycled.
- To take the MRF sorted cardboard to be recycled.
The Authority is keen to establish the options available to treat/sort and recycle the material collected and also the likely cost/income implications associated with the various options.
Interested companies should initially contact Keith Coxon at
