The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is developing a contract for the provision of subsidised funeral services for England’s Chagossian community. This contract would be part of FCDO’s wider ongoing support to Chagossians in recognition of their unique historical circumstances. The objective of the service is to support eligible people with Chagossian heritage with the costs of funerals, and the service is being designed with input from the Chagossian community. The supplier would be required to deliver funerals directly, or be capable of managing an intermediary scheme of assessing and funding eligible funerals delivered by other funeral providers. The service will cover the whole of England, with demand expected to be concentrated in London and South East England and Greater Manchester. Market input into the design of the contract is being sought and interested suppliers are invited to attend an Early Market Engagement event to learn more information and contribute their views.
