Bereavement support for children and young people. The core bereavement support for a child is their family, friends and the professionals who know them, such as school, these individuals and professionals, it’s a life event which is sad and difficult but one which they live through and overcome. Unfortunately for some children and young people this is not the case and the service specification has been developed to provide a Specialist Bereavement Service. The service will provide support and therapy for children, young people and their families where a child or young person (CYP) has more prolonged and complex emotional and mental well-being needs due to bereavement.
