The London Borough of Camden has adopted an ambitious Food Mission, for everyone in the borough to be eating “a healthy, nutritious and sustainable meal every day, with good quality, affordable food that is good for them and the planet” by 2030.
In support of the Mission the Council is investigating options for establishing an in-house school meals service in the future.
Under the current arrangements made by the Council a school meals service is delivered under a contract to over 40 schools (predominantly primary), serving approximately 8,000 meals per day. For primary-aged pupils all meals are free.
The Council is interested in discovering whether there are organisations who can support the Council’s strategic ambitions around food as a powerful tool for change and who might be interested in working with Camden as a strategic partner in providing some of the capacity that would be required in both the development (prior to go-live) and operational (live) phases.
