Warwickshire County Council ("the Council") is a Waste Disposal Authority and manages the Council's statutory obligation to provide treatment and disposal for municipal waste collected throughout Warwickshire by the Waste Collection Authorities (WCA's) and/or by Suppliers acting on behalf of these Councils.
The Waste Collection Authorities in Warwickshire are:
North Warwickshire Borough Council;
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council;
Rugby Borough Council;
Warwick District Council; and
Stratford-on-Avon District Council.
The number of WCAs in Warwickshire may be subject to change in the future, and if a merger is approved, Warwick and Stratford District will form South Warwickshire District Council.
The successful Supplier will be given exclusivity to reprocess separately collected food waste collected by Warwick and Stratford District from August 2022 onwards; and from other Waste Collection Authorities in Warwickshire at any time during the Contract term as and when requested by the Council.
The estimated total value of the Contract, including extensions, is £3m. However, please note that this value incorporates haulage (which is an option the Council may take up at any point during the Contract term), and incorporates all 5 Waste Collection Authorities (Stratford, Warwick, North Warwickshire, Rugby, and Nuneaton). There is a possibility of, but no guarantee, of all 5 WCA's accessing either re-processing and/or haulage, and the Contract is at present only exclusive to Stratford and Warwick. The £3m estimate stated is therefore an aspirational spend figure, and the actual figure depends on the factors outlined above, and actual tonnage sent for re-processing.
