In order to deliver the Contracting Authorities advanced therapies experimental medicine programme there is a requirement for construction of a new adeno-associated virus (AAV) viral vector GMP manufacturing unit and a new cell therapy unit to allow the manufacture of additional and broader range of cell therapy products, including embryonic stem cell derived products.

The Contracting Authority is commissioning additional Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Capability across the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). The project covers two locations: the 15th floor of Guys Tower where the BRC consists of 3nr clean rooms used for ATIMP manufacturing and the 4th floor Southwark Wing that will become additional GMP space. The total area of the project is 395m2 excluding plant space on the 5th floor Southwark required to service the 4th floor development area.
