The Council operates a fleet of approx. 295 vehicles, ranging from small vans to specialist large commercial vehicles and plant. Over 230 of the fleet vehicles are now owned by the Council with the remaining vehicles on contract hire with terms that include maintenance. Vehicles are used by Waste Services, Highways Maintenance, Passenger Transport and Green Spaces, plus a number of other operational departments.
The purpose of this procurement is to contract for supply and fitting of tyres on all Vehicles owned by the Council or, when appropriate, hired by the Council. It includes tyres for the Grounds Equipment Plant. Included are tyre related services and repairs such as repair of punctures and support to vehicles on the road. The Contractor is expected to proactively manage the contract to ensure that the Council meets its legal requirements, obtains the best value, uses long wearing quality tyres with efficient fuel economy and the Fleet remains on the road.
