Carer’s breaks pilot: The aim of this pilot is to provide carer’s breaks to Reading residents who provide unpaid care/ informal care.A carer is anyone who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support.NHS commissioning » Who is considered a carer?The pilot will work with carers who are 18+. This project is funded by The Accelerating Reform Fund, the purpose of which is to support innovation in adult social care and is provided by the Department of Health and Social Care. We are hoping to offer a service that:• provides respite care for the cared for person• and/ or optional recreational activity for the carers. If you offer at least one of the following services, we would like to talk to you as part of our market research . Be sure to respond by 7 February 2024. As this is when the PIN will expire.

• The Service Provider will demonstrate that they have opportunities for carer’s breaks to be booked in coordination with respite care. • The Service provider will demonstrate that they have sufficient staffing capacity in order for the commissioned care service to be provided quickly and effectively: occasionally within 24 hours. • The Service provider will ideally be able to provide both domiciliary respite services and carer’s breaks. • The Service provider can provide either one of the services of domiciliary respite care service or carer’s breaks.
