The Greater Cambridge Partnership committed to substantially increasing the number of successful, high-quality apprenticeships across Greater Cambridge. The existing suppliers have enabled the Greater Cambridge Partnership to meet the target, set out in the Greater Cambridge City Deal, of generating 420 additional apprenticeships by 2020. Covid-19 has had a large impact on those within Greater Cambridge and it is expected that there will be further impacts to come, therefore the Greater Cambridge Partnership is now looking to expand on the success of the existing provision and provide a service with a significantly wider focus.

The service will cover a number of themes and will require working with a wide number of the Greater Cambridge community including, but not limited to, Businesses, Educational establishments, individuals looking to retrain. It is also expected that the service will require a close working relationship with other local government bodies such as the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to ensure joined up working and avoiding duplication of efforts.

The service will be responsible for increasing the awareness of apprenticeships within the area as well as supporting businesses to understand apprenticeships and what it means for them including signposting to relevant funding, supporting those who have to retrain as well as supporting careers advice in education at all levels to ensure that those needing support are able to get it.
