In order to promote greater inclusion, there is a need to support people with a Learning Disability to access mainstream and universal activities in the community rather than re-create activities in place-based services that only the learning disability population accesses. Community Support services are intended to enable individuals to access facilities in the local community that will promote their social skills, participation in group or individual activities that will promote their mental health and well-being and maximise their levels of independence in the community.
