two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Leading a Maths Hub is a significant and demanding system leadership role, which has the opportunity to enhance the teaching of mathematics education in your local area. By fostering a culture of collaboration and support between teachers of maths, both within their own schools and schools in the local area, the Maths Hub programme has been paving the way as an outstanding demonstration of how high-quality professional development can improve pupil outcomes and teacher satisfaction. Now, more than ever, schools need support and guidance to get children’s education back on track following unprecedented disruption because of the Coronavirus pandemic. As a Lead School, College or Trust running a Maths Hub you will have the opportunity to be part of this effort as a national network of schools which are transforming mathematics education and changing the lives of children across England.

SHaW Maths Hub is open to working with any school or college, from Reception through to post-16, within the broad geographical area that it covers. The hubs draw on the expertise of local leaders of mathematics education across their area and the support of strategic partners including Teaching School Hubs, universities, maths experts and employers. We will accept bids from a partnership of schools as long as one or more meet the eligibility requirements.

The new Lead School will be expected to continue and build upon the successful work of the previous lead. The brand of ShaW Maths Hub is well established in their local area, it is expected that the Maths Hub brand will remain the same to provide continuity for the schools being supported by the hub.

If the Maths Hub Programme continues into Academic Year 2024/25 and beyond the new Lead School will continue to retain the role of Maths Hub Lead School until they either (a) become ineligible or (b) a change in the Department’s policy for Maths Hubs.

When the new Lead School is appointed in April 2023, there will be a term hand over during summer 2023 where the new Lead School will receive information on all the responsibilities and partake in meetings up until they solely become the new accountable Lead School in September 2023.

You are invited to attend a Zoom facilitated Information Session led by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) on 8 February 2023 at 11-12:30.

The event will provide the opportunity to hear about the service requirement, the bidding process and for you to submit questions.

To register your attendance and receive dial-in details, please email mathshubs@ncetm.org.uk by 12pm Noon, 7 February 2023. Please give details of who will be attending, and put “New Lead School briefing” in the subject line. Invites are limited to two individuals from each organisation. Attendance at the webinar is not mandatory and for Potential Bidders that are not able to attend, the slides and Q&A log will be circulated via the messaging facility on the Jaggaer eSourcing Portal following the briefing.
