Health Education England are putting out this notice as a PIN (Prior Information Notice) with a view to completing a Direct Award to the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)

The case for direct award can be found on the tender portal.

Health Education England is looking to help to support HCPC registered scientists undertaking the Institute of Biomedical Science professional qualifications required for advanced clinical practice in microbiology, haematology and ultrastructural pathology. In addition, there is also funding for scientists taking the Higher Specialist Diploma with a view to seeking a senior leadership role at Band 7 (or equivalent).
HEE believes that it is highly unlikely that any other supplier will be able to provide the range of knowledge, expertise and experience that IBMS has, to deliver the above course for the following reasons: -
1. IBMS is the leading expert body for this workforce.
2. IBMS is the only organisation able to identify and contact all trainees on the Advanced Specialist Diploma in these areas.
3. IBMS is the only organisation who can adequately target the training grants at the appropriate trainees and Trusts in a relevant, timely and equitable way, which reduces attrition on, and maximises completion of, the Advanced Specialist Diploma in these programmes.
4. IBMS is the only organistation that can start to provide these training grants immediately.
