The RAF Spadeadam Electronic Warfare Range uses radio frequency, ultra-violet and infra-red threat systems to train aircrew and develop countermeasures. One such threat system is the SKYGUARD Fire Control Unit (FCU).

The SKYGUARD FCU is equipped with an integral, but removable, petrol generator power supply unit (PSU), which enables it to be operated when deployed away from a mains electricity supply. However, the existing PSUs are obsolete and can no longer be supported economically.

There is a requirement for a reputable contractor to supply and commission a suitable modern, commercial off-the-shelf, diesel-powered PSU to replace the existing SKYGUARD equipment.  A new PSU must meet the Authority-provided performance specifications, as well as being adapted to fit and run inside the existing spatial envelope on the SKYGUARD FCU.
