two.2.4) Description of the procurement
NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden & GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (DDCCG) are inviting Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified providers to express their interest in delivering Ophthalmology Services.
DDCCG have reviewed existing Community Ophthalmology Services. Currently services are delivered though Enhanced Services with a range of individual providers. The CCG has worked collaboratively with its two main acute Trusts, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS FT (CRH) and University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS FT (UHDB) and the Local Optical Committee to develop associated pathways, to help release capacity and better utilise existing workforce in hospital and primary care alike. The services aim to reduce inappropriate activity in Hospital Eye Services and ensure patients receive care by the most appropriate clinical service, in a timely manner, as close to home as possible.
The current model of commissioning may not be the most efficient model for the delivery of services and therefore the CCG is considering alternative models, one being a singular contracted provider model.
The services this notice relates to are:
• Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS)
• Glaucoma Repeat Readings & Monitoring Service for Stable OHT & COAG patients
• Pre and Post-Operative Cataract Service
• Community Triage and Treatment Service
Full descriptions and details of contract length and values of these services can be found within Document A. Document A and the Service Specification are included within both the attachments area of the project on EU-Supply (access link provided below) and this advert.
The aim of this Expression of Interest is to;
1. Allow the market visibility of the proposed opportunity;
2. To inform the CCG's decision-making process for the future commissioning of the Ophthalmology Services
3. To help refine the future commissioning and procurement approach and;
4. To gauge the level of interest from the market of capable providers with capacity to deliver maintain and strengthen services across Derbyshire as illustrated above.
5. To invite feedback from potential providers/the market on the service specifications
If you wish to express an interest, please register on the EU Supply Portal. The EU supply link is https://uk.eu-supply.com/login.asp?B=UK ref ID no. 48556
Once registered please complete the questions which asks providers to give details about your organisation's details and interest in providing the services.
Bidders who have expressed an interest in this soft market testing exercise will have the opportunity to submit a separate response to the Contract Notice as applicable.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest responses is by 17:00hrs on 18th February 2022.
Please note this is a market testing exercise and does not commit the CCG to carry out a procurement process. Current services will remain in place during this period in line with existing contracts and service level agreements.
