The Council has a statutory duty to collect and arrange for the receipt and disposal of household waste and other waste arising within Bath and North East Somerset. This includes domestic waste collected direct from householders at the kerbside and that taken to its three Household Waste Recycling Centres.
The Council is seeking to award a Contract for the receipt and treatment of Garden Waste commencing on 13th March 2023 and continuing for an Initial Term of 1 year with an option for the Council to extend the Contract on one or more occasions up to a further 1 year.

The Council operates a fortnightly collection of Garden Waste from households within the district for a charge. Approximately 24k homes are currently subscribed to receive wheeled bin collections of their garden waste.
In addition to this, the Council works with local outlets to offer residents the option to purchasing pre-paid paper sacks to place out Garden Waste on a fortnightly basis. Garden waste is also accepted at the Council’s Transfer Station from local traders and internal teams, such as Parks and Open Spaces department.
The purpose of this tender exercise is to appoint contractor(s) capable of treating Garden Waste via open windrow, in-vessel composting or anaerobic digestion, or variants under this terminology.
