Charlestown Weir is part of a wider programme of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supported renewable energy projects across the Greater Manchester which are due to be delivered between 2021 and 2023.
Planning permission and EA licences and consents have been granted for a Hydro Electric Scheme at Charlestown and the Council now wish to deliver it. In order to do so the Council is seeking a design and build contractor to deliver the civil and mechanical aspects of the scheme in accordance with the existing permissions and consents.

Delivery of a Hydro Electric Scheme at Charlestown Weir, Salford as part of Unlocking Clean Energy Greater Manchester (UCEGM) programme. UCEGM is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Planning permission and EA licences and consents have been granted for a Hydro Electric Scheme at Charlestown and the Council now wish to deliver it. In order to do so the Council is seeking a design and build contractor to deliver the civil and mechanical aspects of the scheme in accordance with the existing permissions and consents.
This will be an open procedure to be advertised on the Chest at www.the-chest.org.uk. We hope to mobilise the contract by May 2022.

The contract for the Delivery of a Hydro Electric Scheme at Charlestown Weir will be evaluated in 2 stages
Stage 1 - The Selection Questionnaire and qualitative section will determine if the Supplier meets minimum levels of suitability to deliver the contract, including economic and financial standing, technical and professional ability (pass performance)
Contractors must pass all parts of the Stage 1 Selection Questionnaire in order for their tender Stage 2 Quality Assessment Questionnaire to be considered.
Stage 2 - Quality Assessment Questionnaire - A series of questions based on your ability as a contractor to deliver the works as per the specification. Failure to respond to all questions or to provide an incomplete response may result in your submission not being considered further.
