two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Project Union is a pioneering project led by NGT to create a UK hydrogen backbone, transporting 100% hydrogen, connecting hydrogen production and storage with end users. Through the phased repurposing of existing high pressure gas transmission network infrastructure, the backbone will comprise 1,500 to 2,000km of repurposed assets, representing up to 25% of the UK's current methane transmission network. Where necessary this will be supplemented with some new infrastructure.
Project Union will connect, enable net zero and empower a UK hydrogen economy, repurposing existing transmission pipelines to create a hydrogen 'backbone' for the UK by the early 2030s.
NGT is looking to engage with the market and seek feedback regarding the formation and implementation of a new Project Union FEED Framework which will be utilised to design work activities relating to the production, transport and distribution of hydrogen gas for heat generation. The aim of the proposed FEED framework is to maximise NGT's ability to secure FEED resources, across the different Project Union stages, as and when required.
NGT are currently in the process of developing a strategy paper that will be used to demonstrate the benefits of this new FEED Framework.
The objective is to engage with the market and obtain feedback relating to the level of interest to participate in activities relating to the initiation and implementation of a FEED Framework that would potentially result in successful participants being selected as approved providers of FEED services in support of the delivery of Project Union
NGT is seeking a broad response from several category sectors of programme delivery including but not limited to: engineering, design, project management, PMO and project support services; Design-and-Build contractors ( including Engineering Procurement and Construction or EPC), main-works-civils contractors, tier 1-2 delivery contractors and subcontractors.
