Scope
Description
The London Borough of Hackney's Children and Families service is establishing a Support Services Framework to contract with voluntary, community, and independent organisations for time-limited, results-driven interventions aimed at supporting children, young people, and their families.
The core aim is to maintain secure family arrangements, prevent children from entering the care system, and enhance overall wellbeing and independence.
The framework is structured into four principal areas (or 'Lots'):
Lot 1: Positive / Structured Activities: One-to-one support to promote confidence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
Lot 2: Specialist Mentoring Support: Focused, targeted mentoring delivered by specialist staff to achieve specific, measurable goals for children and young people.
Lot 3: Community-Based Parenting Assessments: Intensive family assessments conducted within the community or sometimes referred to as "reverse residential assessments," often mandated by the courts.
Lot 4: Crisis Intervention and Specialist Support: Quick, intensive responses for children and families facing an urgent need or high risk (e.g., nurses, restraint-trained support workers).
Organisations are required to incorporate Systemic, Trauma Informed, and Anti-Racist Practice into their service delivery.
