two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The aim of the NHS CSP is to reduce the incidence of, and mortality from, cervical cancer by delivering a systematic quality assured population-based screening programme for eligible people.

The aim of the Service is to support the delivery of the NHS CSP by testing samples and making direct referrals to colposcopy.

The relevant authority intends to award a contract to an existing provider under Direct Award C under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) regulations 2023.

Contract Start Date: 01 July 2026

Contract End Date: 31 March 2029

The contract term is for an initial period of 21 months, with an option to extend for a further 12 months at the discretion of the Relevant Authority and subject to satisfactory contractual and financial performance.

The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award.

The publication of this notice marks the start of the Standstill Period.

Representations by providers must be made to decision makers by midnight on Friday 16th January 2026.

This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award under the PSR.
