The Council is seeking a provider to discharge the Council’s responsibilities to inspect Streetworks in accordance with the New Road and Streetworks Act 1991 and the Code of Practice for inspections.
The requirements of the contract will be for a service provider to deliver the inspection requirements of the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 and Code of Practice for Inspections in alignment with the Dorset Council Permit scheme by providing an appropriate number of inspectors, supported by a manager, to ensure compliance.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Section 72 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 gives Street authorities power to inspect, investigate and report on statutory undertakers works. Using these powers Dorset Council monitor works on the highway to provide value by ensuring that:
• the highway remains safe whilst works are executed and following reinstatement,
• the highway asset is returned to specification
• the works promoter operates in accordance with the conditions of their permit
• the highway network disruption is kept to a minimum.
Performance must be monitored to ensure compliance is maintained and if performance is not adequate, the Council must work with the undertaker to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to ensure rectification and future compliance.
