  • NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Procurement identifier (OCID): ocds-h6vhtk-06f4cc

Description

With over 273,000 people in Scotland living with Stage 3-5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), including 2,000 receiving dialysis treatment, and demand expected to increase fivefold over the next decade, improvements to dialysis transport across NHS Scotland are urgently needed.

Dialysis journeys account for more than 40% of all non-emergency patient transport activity, costing 9.1 million GBP annually. Yet current arrangements can be inconsistent, creating avoidable pressures for patients, providers and NHS services.

NHS Scotland is seeking innovative, patient-centred and sustainable solutions that improve reliability, efficiency and patient outcomes, while reducing administrative burden and delivering better value for money.
