PA2 - Archaeological Management Plan & HE1 Works Specification, Wallingford Scheduled Monuments
- Wallingford Town Council
Procurement identifier (OCID): ocds-h6vhtk-06df6d
Description
Wallingford Town Council, working in partnership with Historic England, seeks a suitably qualified archaeological and heritage consultant to prepare an Archaeological Management Plan and a costed specification for HE1 capital works across the Scheduled Monuments within the Council's public parks in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
The sites covered are the Wallingford Town Walls, the Saxon burh (town) defences, and Wallingford Castle and the Motte. These are nationally important Scheduled Monuments, and elements of the Town Walls are recorded on the Heritage at Risk Register. The work is intended to inform and enable future conservation works, including measures to limit erosion, manage vegetation and shrub coverage, and address unstable trees, while protecting buried archaeology and the historic character of the sites.
The appointed consultant will be expected to assess the monuments, set out a management approach, and produce a clear, costed specification suitable to inform a subsequent, separately procured works programme.
The full brief, scope of works, form of response and pricing schedule are provided in the PA2 Tender Brief and its appendices, which tenderers should read in full before submitting.
