Provision of Air Quality Monitoring Network & Associated Services

  • Leicester City Council

Procurement identifier (OCID): ocds-h6vhtk-0553ac

Description

The Council wishes to purchase twenty (20) Air Quality Sensors. The Sensors are to be deployed across the City of Leicester to measure and monitor air quality at various hotspots that have potential poor air quality. The requirement under this specification will allow the Council to be informed of where the Council should focus its initiatives and assess the effectiveness of its existing air quality monitoring work.

The contract has not been split into lots. Dividing the requirement would increase the risk of data security issues and a higher potential for data loss. In addition, it would introduce unnecessary complexity in contract management.

A Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) exercise was undertaken to inform the development of this procurement. Suppliers were invited to respond to the Council's PME questionnaire. Eight (8) suppliers submitted responses, of which five (5) were shortlisted and invited to demonstrate their solutions. Four (4) of the shortlisted suppliers delivered demonstrations via Microsoft Teams.

Suppliers were provided with an agenda in advance of the demonstration sessions, and discussions were structured around the agreed agenda items. The outcomes of the PME, including the questionnaire document and the demonstration agenda, are included within the tender pack for further detail.

The Preliminary Market Engagement Notice for this requirement was published on 25 June 2025 and can be found at the following link: https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/Notice/035198-2025?
