Description
The Welsh Blood Service (WBS) is an All Wales Service collecting voluntary, non-remunerated blood donations from the public. These donations are processed and tested before distribution to hospitals where they support patient care.
The WBS is a division of Velindre University NHS Trust. A Senior Leadership Team supports the Divisional Director of the WBS and the WBS is authorised and licenced by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, who audit the organisation at defined periods.
The WBS Transport Department operates a large fleet of vehicles as part of the organisation's activities in the collection, testing and distribution of blood and blood products to its customer hospitals. A proportion of these vehicles are based in North Wales at two separate locations. It is essential that the WBS service have to necessary maintenance contact in place to ensure that all vehicle's operated and driven by employees are legally compliant with current road transport legislation.
The main locations for the vehicles are.
North West Team Base, Llandygai, Bangor (LL57 4YH)
North East Team Base and holding/distribution centre, Pembroke House, Wrexham (LL13 7YT)
The Maintenance provision will be split into different categories as detailed below and will be subject to the requirements of each specific vehicle type:
• Service
• MOT
• Vehicle plating
• Eight weekly inspection
• Tail lift maintenance
• Air conditioning
• Body and Paintwork Repair
• Heating and Cooling Servicing
• Storage Requirements
• Collection and Delivery
• Ad-Hoc Requirements
• Emergency Cover and Callouts
