Description
This proposed service forms part of City of Wolverhampton Council's short breaks offer that includes community short breaks, schools based short breaks, and residential short breaks.
The law and statutory guidance outlining the local authority's duties in regard to short breaks includes:
- The Children Act 1989
- Volume 2 of the Children Act 1989 Guidance
- Children and Families Act 2014 s27
- Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 s2
- Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011
- SEND code of practice: 0 to 25 years 2015
This service sits at the specialist plus side of the Short Breaks Graduated Response Offer. It provides overnight short breaks to support Parents/Carers in their caring role to reduce the occurrence of family breakdown and offers a local service to those families in most need. The Overnight Short Breaks will provide services during term time and school holidays and will be available for 360 days per year.
