Description
The FAAM Airborne Laboratory is undergoing a Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) project to safeguard the UK's airborne atmospheric research capability, provide frontier science capability and reduce our environmental impact. The facility is part of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science at the University of Leeds and funded by UKRI-Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
The Atmospheric Research Aircraft (ARA) video camera system provides important context to the many atmospheric measurements taken by its on board instruments. Currently comprising four cameras - two at the top of the vertical stabiliser and two on the air-conditioning bay doors on the rear of the fuselage - the camera system allows video recording in forward, upward, rearward and downward directions simultaneously.
