The NHM has an excellent history of laser ablation analysis providing world class research and commercial work. We have run two systems since 2012 to cope with research demand and support the commercial work each year. Our previous system, which carried out most of the commercial work, has recently failed without warning. To keep up with contractual demands, while continuing to support grant funded projects, the Museum needs to acquire and install a laser ablation system as soon as possible.
